MarulaLab: Pioneering the Marula Oil Industry

MarulaLab was established in 2020 and is the only company in the world that owns and controls plantations of Marula from seed to plantation. Located in the Israeli Negev, our agrotech company operates in the fields of Research and Development, Cultivation and Plantation Planning, and production of raw materials. Our target markets are substantial and growing: cosmetics, beverage, nutraceuticals and others. With patented industrialization methods and unique cultivars, our R+D team is at the forefront of this new industry.

We are a startup that produces Marula products such as Marula oil, Soap, Gummies, and more.Β  We use the latest technologies to develop our products and have a team of exceptional scientists who are constantly developing new ways to improve our products. We have patents for our production methods, and our products are made with the highest quality ingredients. Our goal is to be the leading provider of Marula oil and other Marula products in the world.

MarulaLab researches, develops, and grows selected varieties of Marula trees in orchards optimized for the production of Marula seed oil, develops patent-pending unique extraction machinery for its oil production line, in addition to pursuing the establishment of a no-waste policy for all of the products of the tree – seed, peel, and pulp.

The company is vertically integrated – from the planting and farming of the trees, all the way to marketing and selling the final products that reach consumers all over the world. This gives us full control over every aspect of production, ensuring that only the highest quality products bear our name.

Why Marula?

The Marula Tree

The Marula tree (Sclerocarya birrea) is a member of the cashew family, and is native to Africa. The tree grows to about 20m in height, and produces a yellow-greenish fruit that is about the size of a tennis ball. The fruit has a hard outer shell that contains a white pulp and large black seeds.

The Marula tree has been an important part of African life for centuries, and is used in traditional medicine, as well as being a source of food and drink with a marula taste. The oil from the Marula fruit has been used for centuries to treat skin conditions, such as eczema and psoriasis. These are just some of the marula benefits.

The tree is drought-resistant and can grow in poor soil, making it an ideal tree for cultivation in arid regions. Many communities also use the marula bark and marula herb in addition to the fruit.

The Marula Fruit

The Marula fruit contains a nut rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and has a high oil content. The oil is extracted from the marula nuts, and can be used for cooking, as well as being added to cosmetics and skincare products.

Bringing Marula To The World

Though Marula is revered for its lucrative oil in cosmetics and its high vitamin content, it was never taken out of the wild for mass production. There was no available source that fit both the desired quality or quantity of Marula products worldwide. That is, until MarulaLabs came in. We invented the solutions for the industrial processing of marula and have the only commercial orchards in the world.

Marula Plantations

Our Marula plantations are located in the Israeli Negev, and we have full control over every aspect of production. We use the latest technologies, including computerized monitoring and data analysis, to develop our products and have a team of exceptional scientists who are constantly developing new ways to improve our products.

Marula is a sustainable and environmentally friendly crop, and we are committed to sustainable production practices. We use a closed-loop system in our plantations, meaning that all of the by-products of the Marula tree are used, with nothing going to waste.

While also being a crop fit for a desert climate, we have developed a highly successful vegetative propagation protocol, possess orchard planning expertise and have long-term agreements with growers.

Marula orchards have no age limit, an easy harvest, no natural pests and require no pruning after two years. Summer and winter varieties also allow for a fresh yield for eight months of the year.

Our Production Line

We have a continuous and controlled production line that allows for maximum usage of the fruit. Our patented equipment ensures that the nutritional value of the product is maintained as far as possible. The final products that reach consumers all over the world are of the highest quality, and we are constantly working to improve our products.

R&D and quality control

We are committed to research and development, and our team is at the forefront of this new industry. We constantly test our products to ensure that they meet the highest quality standards. Our products are subject to strict quality control, and we only use the best ingredients. We are also committed to sustainable production practices. We have an excellent R&D team and a variety of R&D collaborations. We also hold a number of patents, both in Israel and internationally.
